IBaCA Celebrates Independents Week July 1st-July 8th
IBaCA, the Independent Business and Community Alliance of Tallahassee, and the Tallahassee community joined together to celebrate National Independents Week, a recognition of the independently owned businesses in our home towns across the nation. Locally-owned independent businesses make our home towns unique, keep entrepreneurism alive, give back to the community in time, talent, goods and services, and so much more. The celebration culminated in a party at the American Legion Hall on July 8, where the community was invited to meet their local business owners and enjoy live music by
Tao Z Jonz and the Ontological Elephants, and Mike Brawer and Friends.

Take the Indie Challenge –
Use Independents Week to explore your community's independently-owned businesses. Visit the IBaCA website directory to discover new and long-time locally owned businesses. Learn more about the benefits of shopping locally-owned. See how much of your purchasing for that week you can do with them. You'll keep your money circulating in your community three times as long or more than spending it at chains where it leaves immediately for somewhere else. Every dollar you spend at a locally-owned business helps your community in many ways. Read the Apalachee Tortoise Article: "This Fourth of July Salute to a Different Kind of Independence."
